Night Vision Glasses are telescopes or binoculars with a large diameter objective.
Large lenses can gather and concentrate light, the purpose: intensifying light with purely optical means enables the user to see better in the dark than with naked eye.

A Spotting Scope is a portable telescope, optimized for the observation of terrestrial objects. The magnification of a spotting scope is typically on the order of 20X to 60X.

Shake can be much reduced, and higher magnifications used, with binoculars using image-stabilization technology or when mounted on a Tripod.
